A New Mexico Based Non-Profit Organization Dedicated to Tibetans and Preserving their Culture. The Green Tara Foundation is a 501(c) 3 dedicated to helping Tibetan refugees in Nepal. The Tibetan refugees in Nepal are living in severe poverty as a people without a country, few economic opportunities, and their leader, the Dalai Lama, in exile. Gerry Laidlaw founded the organization in 1997 after visiting Nepal and witnessing firsthand the plight of the Tibetan refugees there.
